Brain Break provides two literacy tools for learners of any age: Brain Break Popup (a Chrome extension) and Brain Break Bookmarks (a web app).
Both tools support reading practice by showing a word or phrase, speaking it aloud, and then requiring the learner to type it correctly before moving on.
Brain Break was developed by dbWeb in 2026 to assist people with learning difficulties by building confidence and increasing word knowledge through short, repeated reading activities.
Popup runs on a timer and opens a full-screen reading prompt. The learner sees a word, image, and audio cue, then types the word correctly before returning to browsing.
Bookmarks lets teachers or parents create visual Google-search bookmarks. When clicked, the phrase is shown and spoken, and correct typing opens the search in a new tab.
Popup can run locally or with optional Google sign-in for saving learning-related data. The current extension install path is an unpacked Chrome extension ZIP.
